I recall reading somewhere after the show that the Dead set a record for the longest show ever at the Music Hall. Great to finally see the set list as I just recall the songs from Workingman's and American Beauty.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-508596483308849125.post-61259309015759758942013-11-29T13:11:25.777-08:002013-11-29T13:11:25.777-08:00Just want to say hello ~ I too, turned 17 two week...Just want to say hello ~ I too, turned 17 two weeks after this show. It was my first, being from Canton. I moved to CA the following year, and worked at the Creamery in OR, the summer of '72. We printed up tickets for the benefit show on Nancy's Honey Yogurt labels. I landed in SF again, for many years, then in Marin, for most of my adult life. (http://www.alhirschfeldfoundation.org/news/album-week-david-steinberg) The name of the tv music show he hosted was "The Music Scene," an interesting show that tried to be a mix of comedy of popular music, but that never caught on. And ironic that you brought longer tapes to avoid more tapeflips... At least your tapes made it (mostly) through the night! Going into the Dead show we knew they played long sets and did not want to have too many tape flips. The C120 were new at the time and I got several of those for the show, sadly the extra tape was too much for the cassettes motors and the
the cassette would stop Jeff Lintonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-508596483308849125.post-32349443020247283602012-03-07T22:22:17.445-08:002012-03-07T22:22:17.445-08:00It’s a shame about all the cuts, and strange that ...It’s a shame about all the cuts, and strange that there would have been so many, so lengthy & close together. (10/11/70, incidentally, is another show with lots of frequent cuts.)
Miller disguised the harshness of the cuts somewhat by crossfading them, so they’re less noticeable. The taper shouldn’t have needed to flip so many times, so it seems the recorder was turned off now & Light Into Asheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06943335142002007213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-508596483308849125.post-40072615284623772092012-03-07T20:56:43.719-08:002012-03-07T20:56:43.719-08:00Hmm, interesting. One dead.net reviewer said he didn't think the Riders were there, and another swore they weren't at the 10/18 Minneapolis show...so I figured it was safe to say, no Riders. It's always hard to tell from that kind of evidence though, as people often mix up one show with another in memory!Light Into Asheshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06943335142002007213noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-508596483308849125.post-65035391544894152092012-03-07T17:49:03.503-08:002012-03-07T17:49:03.503-08:00LIA, a great review.
